We are on service 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. All crew members are volunteers. 100% of money raised is used to keep the boat maintained and crew trained and equipped.
Sidmouth Lifeboat is a fully self-funded independent lifeboat in East Devon, covering an area of approximately 150 square miles of sea between Axmouth and Budleigh Salterton.
Sidmouth Lifeboat is not part of, or funded by the RNLI, although we do have close links with the RNLI through the nature of our work. Sidmouth Lifeboat is funded entirely by the community in and around the Sid Valley and friends of Sidmouth Lifeboat from further away who also give so generously
During it’s Victorian heyday, Sidmouth was home to an RNLI Station, situated across the road from the current Lifeboat station. The Engraved keystone can still be seen today, having been incorporated into the new block of flats built on the site. From 1869 to 1912 the Lifeboats “Rimmington”, followed by the “William & Francis” saved a total of 38 lives

And several events are organised at the Lifeboat station - notably the annual Sidmouth Boxing Day Swim, which acts as a collaboration between the town's key institutions on the seafront:
Sidmouth’s Boxing Day Swim took a dramatic turn but raised around £1,700 for the RNLI.
Organisers at the Regatta Committee have a long-standing relationship with the lifeboat charity for their work as a national cause.
They also make donations with Sidmouth Lifeboat, the town’s independent organisation which supervised during the day.
The Regatta Committee gave thanks to Sidmouth Lifeboat, Sidmouth Police, Sidmouth Sailing Club, Port Royal Club and the Sidmouth RNLI committee
