East Devon Business Group

A new group representing the businesses in East Devon is emerging:

The new East Devon Business Group is for all East Devon businesses, including sole traders or larger manufacturing businesses.
The newly reconstituted group is hoping to have a cross section of members including chambers of commerce and business/trade associations.
The forum's relationship with East Devon District Council has been criticised by some residents over its perceived influence on development levels.

In with the New!
East Devon Business Group
New Chairman sought
A new collective of businesses and business groups is evolving from what was the East Devon Business Forum. The new East Devon Business Group is for all East Devon businesses, whether you are a sole trader or running a large manufacturing business in the area, you will be welcome to join. The East Devon Business Group wants representatives from all business organisations, including chambers of commerce, business/trade associations etc. The aim of the group is to recruit a broad range of businesses and business groups in East Devon, so that it can identify opportunities that will benefit local businesses and also identify the barriers to business and business growth. The East Devon Business Group will be entirely business-led and largely self-funded with regular meetings for members. Serving Councillors shall not be eligible to serve as Officers of the Group, but where appropriate, representatives from authorities at local, county and regional level will be invited to attend in order to hear the considered views of business.
With central government funding now being diverted direct to the regions it is essential that a broad base collective of business opinion is put in place as soon as possible.
Nominations for a new Chairman are now being sought.  Persons who think they might be suitable for the role should contact Val Baker at the address below. The East Devon Business Group next meets at the Deer Park Country Hotel on Thursday, 27th June at 5.30 for 6pm. Please send in your nominations to us by this date.  At the meeting at the Deer Park Country Hotel, last week, a number of revisions to the current constitution were proposed and these will be presented at the next meeting on Thursday, June 27th.  It is expected that the new Chairman will be appointed at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of the East Devon Business Group, at the Deer Park Country Hotel on Thursday, 18th July at 5.30 for 6pm.
As many interested organisations or businesses as possible are encouraged to attend the EGM, but please let us know if you are planning to attend.
Please contact Val Baker at info@bhba.org.uk or telephone 01823 681484, if you can attend either of the above meetings.
