Sidbury

The village of Sidbury is part of the civic parish of Sidmouth.
However, it is a village with a very distinct identity, enjoying a lively sense of community with plenty of services to offer.

The village school is very popular

as is the pub, The Red Lion.

There is an excellent website for the village:

St Giles church is situated in the centre of the village and is one of the few churches in Devon with a Saxon crypt.
With around 800 people living in the parish, Sidbury is a thriving community with many active clubs and organisations. Unlike many villages, we still have a pub (The Red Lion), a shop (Drews The Butchers), a Primary school, a village hall with a post office on Thursdays and a social club.

The restored mill houses the Kingfisher Gallery.

Baking Bread with Sidbury Mill Flour

Andy and I bake our own bread.  We enjoy the process of making bread and the results!  It also gives us a good reason to search out the old fashioned, independent millers dotted across the South West.  Today I am using flour from Sidbury Mill.

The Manor at Sidbury is a splendid Victorian landmark, home to the estate of the Cave family:

Victorian elegance meets coastal beauty

Built in the 1870's by Stephen Cave, then MP for New Shoreham, Sidbury Manor remains the residence of the Cave family to this day. A beautiful red brick mansion, Sidbury Manor stands out as an important historical landmark, and benefits from a scenic, large estate near the regency resort of Sidmouth.
