Solar Plan for Sidmouth: Town Council decision

Last night, at the Sidmouth Town Council's Planning Committee meeting, only three Councillors supported the planning application for a solar farm near Sidbury:

The application will now go the District Council - with further comments to be in until 2nd October. 

Fears have been expressed that "one solar farm has led to many" - an example being at Ilminster:

ILMINSTER could soon be home to one of England’s first solar energy farms if plans for the 64,000 panels go ahead.
Applicant WRS Energy has earmarked four sites to house the solar panels – two on the Dillington Estate, one along Bushfurlong Road and another on Cad Farm.
