Sidmouth Science Festival 2014 launched

We are getting more interested in science according to a latest poll:
Futures Forum: Engaging with science..... public attitudes survey shows "More now agree that 'it is important to know about science in my daily life.'"

And science will be coming to Sidmouth again later this year:

The planning for the 2014 Festival going ahead with the latest confirmed items now published
  • The Festival Week coincides with the UK Earth Science Week 2014 and the Europe Code Week. Hence, both our Geological heritage and the skills of computing and coding will feature in the Festival. The emphasis will be on making and creating!
  • In addition, the International Ada Lovelace Day falls on the Tuesday of the Festival Week.  Ada, Countess Lovelace, is widely held to have been the first computer programmer over 170 years ago!
  • Professors Iain Stewart and Bill McGuire have confirmed their participation so we are anticipating interesting talks by both.
  • A Member of Exeter University management joined Festival organising team and the University has kindly granted some funding for us.
  • Check out the week's programme as the items get confirmed and published.
