Sustainable Community Pig Share

Sustainable Crediton has a very busy food group:
Sustainable Crediton - Food & Farming

Here's their latest idea:

Sustainable Community Pig Share

Crediton Community Pig Share
                                                                   What Next!

Do you prefer to know where your food comes from?
Are you someone who eats pork chops, roast pork, sausages, ham etc?
Would you like organic, sustainable, locally-produced meat at a reasonable cost?
Want to get involved in a pig share and support native or vulnerable breeds?

We are hoping to form a small group of individuals/ households who wish to raise pigs in the Crediton area. Raising pigs is surprisingly straightforward to do, and there are quite a few other pig share schemes around the country who can provide details of best practice.

What can you expect? A half share in a pig would provide a substantial freezer load of at least 20-25 kg of pork joints, chops and other cuts and products in late autumn. What do you need to do? Get in touch if you are interested in being involved for 2016, and we will send details of a local meeting to find out more.
