iTree Survey
This valley wide tree survey was undertaken by volunteers, with generous co-operation of the land owners of course, in 2014.  The results took a while to arrive back from USA, but we have a short report printed with the initial findings.   This will be available for 14th October – see below.     A full report will be posted on the website by the end of November.

SCIENCE FESTIVAL
14  October   2pm  Kenton Rogers, Treeconomics – report on results of valley wide tree survey.   Free entry Kennaway House    www.sidmouthsciencefestival.org.uk
TREES AND CLIMATE CHANGEWe are planning a Tree Summit for National Tree Week  28 November - 6 December 2015.   An evening do, with local groups focusing on their involvement with trees.    Details will be circulated nearer the time.
AGM
Early January 2016  - we are looking for a new Treasurer.   Our current Treasurer, John Dyson, has done great work keeping us on track and helping fund raise for the last 3 years.    He is a long standing member of Sidmouth Town Council, and recently become a District Councillor, so is finding his time too full.      Anyone who might be interested in taking on this role, please contact John or Diana by email.

PROJECTS FOR 2015/16 PLANTING SEASON

Roxburgh car park – greening the car parks has long been our aim.  We are working with East Devon District Council departments to improve this small town centre car park.

Connaught Road/Beatlands Road – we are working with residents of these areas to improve their trees, by renovating established uncared for trees and new planting.

Replanting the beech hedge, planted at Stowford by the Arboretum with Sidmouth Rotary Club, and inadvertently mown by – well, let’s just say ‘to be replanted’.

TREE TRAIL LEAFLETS These three leaflets based on Sidmouth. Sidbury and Salcombe Regis are now available locally and through the Sidmouth Information Centre, and generously sponsored by Sidmouth Garden Centre.

A Legacy leaflet – privately sponsored – will be available shortly.

For advice, or requests, please contact Diana East info@sidmoutharboretum.org.uk
