Climate Week in Sidmouth: The Climate Variety Show >>> Friday 11th March >>> Singing for the Climate with the SidVale Folk Choir

This year's climate week in Sidmouth will finish with a bang:

The evening will be as it suggests, full of variety - including food and drink, stalls and talks, time to mingle and network - and some songs from the Valley's community folk choir.

So, what better way to finish the week than to go out with a song or two - with SidVale Folk:

And part of their repertoire includes:

Sing for the Climate Belgium - Final clip - YouTube

Or if you prefer a more lively rendition:

This song is a very strong candidate for an anthem for the climate action movement, see aoc.org.au. The song originated from the Belgian Climate Coalition and was sun in 2012 by nearly 400,000 people. Videos of people singing it can be found at singfortheclimate.com which also provides the music, lyrics and a karaoke version as well. This is a really great song as it just asks people to stand up and DO something about climate change.

Another gem from SidVale Folk celebrates the Green Belt Movement - initiated by Nobel Prize winner Wangari Maathai:

Futures Forum: Save Our Green Spaces: "protecting green spaces in the south west from development"... videos and stories about the green belt
Futures Forum: Rob Nixon: "How can we devise arresting stories that capture the pervasive but elusive effects of 'slow violence'? Climate change, deforestation, oil spills, acidifying oceans, and a host of other slowly unfolding environmental crises."
