The specially designed Wattway panels can withstand heavy traffic rolling over
them and can be fixed right onto the tarmac. It should all be up and running in
the next five years.
The
new solar thermal plant opened in Ouarzazate, Morocco, uses the sun's light to
melt a giant vat of salt. When the sun goes down, there's still enough heat in
the salt to power the town for eight hours over night.
Times
are changing in the capital. From 2000 to 2014 the number of cars hitting the
road during rush hour halved, while bikes trebled. The trend is set to continue,
especially with new protected bike lanes popping up all over the city.
Climate
change is raising temperatures in Madrid. So the city is turning disused roads
and plazas into parks, and covering buildings in greenery. Some green roof
pilots brought temperatures down by four degrees fahrenheit!
