Sidmouth Fairtrade Fortnight >>> launch Tues 1st March

The campaign to make Sidmouth a Fairtrade Town hots up at the beginning of next month:


SIDMOUTH FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT LAUNCH EVENT
 
Tuesday 1st March, 11 am – 12.30 pm
 
Sidholme Music Room, Elysian Fields, Temple Street EX10 8UJ
 
The event will include a short film presentation on the benefits of fairtrade to producers, along with refreshments,
information stalls, fairtrade products and music by harpist Cheryl Watson.

The Town Council is very much behind the project:

Fair Trade Sidmouth 

Sharon Howe, Elizabeth Harris and Trish Sulaimani attended the meeting to give a presentation regarding Sidmouth becoming a Fair Trade Town. Fair Trade fortnight was to run from 29 February to 14 March 2016; Members were invited to attend the Sidmouth launch event which began at 10.30am on Tuesday 1 March at Sidholme Music Room. 

RESOLVED: that 
1. Sidmouth Town Council supports the Sidmouth Fair Trade steering group in its endeavor to register Sidmouth as a Fair Trade town. 
2. Sidmouth Town Council would directly support the Fairtrade scheme by offering Fairtrade tea and coffee in meetings and implementing Fairtrade principles in purchasing policies where possible. 
3. The Chairman of the Council would become the Town Council’s representative on the Sidmouth Fair Trade committee; although a deputy will attend the Sidmouth launch event as the Chairman will be away.
