A replacement for Alma Bridge: 'scheme can only happen if cliff erosion is slowed'

It is clear that before any work can be committed to the bridge link across the River Sid, work needs to be done to protect the cliffs, beaches and seafront:
Futures Forum: Sidmouth Beach Management Plan >>> and Pennington Point: "We need to do something before it’s too late."

One specific idea is a lagoon or reef at Pennington Point:

Preliminary plans for a new structure to cross the River Sid – at a location inland from the existing Alma Bridge – have been drawn up by Devon County Council (DCC).
