Knowle relocation project: SAVE Britain's Heritage >>> Historic England acknowledged that both the house and the park are of 'clear local interest' and are 'evidently highly valued by the local community'.

The national campaigning group SAVE has intervened twice over planning applications to demolish the Victorian hotel at Knowle:
> to object to the outline planning application of March 2013
Futures Forum: Knowle: SAVE Britain's Heritage
> and to object to the current application:
Futures Forum: Knowle relocation project: SAVE Britain's Heritage >>> "Loss of the Knowle and development of the park would represent a devastating blow to the history and character of Sidmouth."

The developer has sought to belittle the importance of this organisation. In its Heritage and Archaeology Statement, PegasusLife have this to say in the opening paragraph:
