Climate change: urgent priorities for the UK

There have been dramatic changes in the climate - and more is to come:

The Committee on Climate Change’s (CCC) has just produced a report: ‘UK Climate Change Risk Assessment Evidence Report: 

UK climate change risks 

Globally, 14 of the 15 hottest years on record have occurred since 2000. Changes to the UK climate are likely to include periods of too much or too little water, increasing average and extreme temperatures, and sea level rise. The most urgent risks are flooding, coastal change, health and productivity effects from higher temperatures, shortages in public water supply and water for agriculture, energy generation, industry and freshwater ecology, risks to biodiversity and new pests and diseases and more invasive species. Opportunities include increased production from agriculture and forestry and supplying markets from adaptation-related goods and services.
