Launch of Sidmouth and East Devon Walking Festival

Sidmouth’s walking festival strolls back into action tomorrow (Saturday), showcasing the best the area has to offer.
Together with the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the event has swelled and now boasts 23 walks over nine days.
Every day there is a coastal walk, a circular specialist interest walk and a challenge walk to complete the whole of the 40-mile East Devon Way. Tomorrow, walkers will be welcomed at Kennaway House between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
The ribbon will be cut by Alistair Handyside from the SW Tourism Alliance and delicious food will be served by Devon Kitchen Deli.
At 3pm and 3.30pm, Sidmouth Museum will be leading walks around the town, and there will be a performance by the Sidmouth Ukulele Strummers.

Sidmouth and East Devon Walking Festival

Saturday 17th - Sunday 25th September 2016

Sidmouth has some wonderful scenic walking both coastal and inland.
Join us for a fabulous week of over 20 free guided walks; discover the wonderful scenic coastal walking of Sidmouth and the hidden gems of East Devon.
There are three walks each day; from the new fun and interesting expert led circular walks to coastal walks which take in our seaside towns, to the East Devon Way linear walks.
6 daily walks cover all of the 40 mile East Devon Way, for these walks there is coach (£) transport from Sidmouth to take you to the start and collect you at the end. Fancy a challenge? Complete the route and you will be awarded a personalised certificate and badge at the end.
This year the festival covers two weekends, the whole week is perfect for a walking and exploring holiday.
All walks are free of charge (coach transfers cost £5) but limited and must be booked in advance through the Sidmouth Tourist Centre 01395 516441
All walks are led by experienced local walkers who enjoy sharing this wonderful area with our guests.
