Please forward this to as many people as you can.

Dear All, just to update you on what is going on locally with respect to the Success Regime consultation called 'Your Future Care'. This is essentially a consultation on closure of community hospital beds in East Devon, prior to the publication at any time of the wider Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) which will have much wider cuts in services across the whole of Devon.

There is a Devon wide umbrella group bringing together many campaigns from across Devon, to support local activity and organise county wide activity. Their focus is the STP and wider issues than those highlighted in the Success Regime consultation. As a result, there was a need to take action to focus on the proposed bed closures in the short term, especially during November when the consultation events will be happening.

A small group of activists have set up a group to campaign to save all of our community hospital beds in East Devon, not just individual hospitals. We have set up a website, a petition and printed leaflets which will be handed out at the consultation events and other meetings beginning next week.

Of course this is a big local story for Seaton, Honiton, Okehampton, Sidmouth and Exmouth, but residents in Axminster, Ottery and Budleigh who have already lost their beds should also speak out and closures in community hospitals will also impact upon provision in Exeter.

Chronic underfunding of health and social care in Devon is going to affect all of us. Only pressure on central government can change this. We hope this campaign will encourage people to write to their MP and the CCG. Local MPs and councillors are showing their support in the campaign to halt these closures.

Please sign our 38 degrees petition:

We are also going to hand out a leaflet (text attached) at any appropriate meeting and would be grateful for your support in forwarding this to others. The first consultation events are at Sidmouth on 7th November when we are protesting to the CCG about their plans.

Best wishes, Di Fuller,
