Back in 2008 universities in Leeds realised they had a big problem with cars and parking congestion. There were also concerns for students’ health with 50% taking part in physical activity less than three times a week.
We introduced a pioneering bike hire scheme to help reduce traffic and car parking and to improve the health of students and staff. By 2013 there was a dramatic increase in walking and cycling to the university.
