Neighbourhood Plan: final household survey launched > and the Port Royal Scoping Study

The final questionnaire is on its way:
Futures Forum: Neighbourhood Plan: final household survey launched > focus on housing supply and the future of Port Royal

It is planned to provide input for the Port Royal Scoping Study:
Futures Forum: Plans for Port Royal: anticipating a Regeneration Board >> meeting the stakeholders >> further reports

In which case, one of the key sections in the questionnaire is Eastern Town:
Futures Forum: Neighbourhood Plan: "Sidmouth’s eastern end is run down and needs to be regenerated, but any development in the town needs to be sensitive and appropriate to the environment."

This is the latest from the Herald:

Last neighbourhood plan survey, on eastern Sidmouth, launched

PUBLISHED: 13:00 02 June 2017

Thousands of surveys which will help create a vision for the eastern side of Sidmouth will start arriving through residents’ doors today.

This will be one of the last chances people will get to help shape the future blueprints of the town and share their ideas for the Neighbourhood Plan.
Residents will be asked to voice their views about the area lying east of High Street and Fore Street and south of the swimming pool, down to the seafront. This includes the car park, fishing compound, the public toilets, the Drill Hall, the sailing club and the lifeboat station.
Neighbourhood Plan chairman Deirdre Hounsom said the survey will start to arrive through householders’ letterboxes over the next week and will include questions about the Port Royal development.
She added that the results will be added to those from earlier consultations before the Neighbourhood Plan team provides community feedback on the eastern part of town - in time for the plan to be considered by Sidmouth Town Council and East Devon District Council (EDDC).
Mrs Hounsom said: “The emerging Neighbourhood Plan, when made, can influence several aspects of any development such as the height of new buildings, the architectural style and even specify the types of materials to be used.
“This latest survey will provide further evidence of residents’ hopes and wishes for this important development including the type of housing, transport and parking, and community spaces.”
Part of the Port Royal area is already featured in EDDC‘s Local Plan, which looks to create a mixed redevelopment on the area – including housing with up to 30 homes and buildings for community, commercial, recreation and other uses.
So far, residents have made no major objections to these proposals, but responses to earlier Neighbourhood Plan consultations show people strongly believe the area should be redeveloped to provide an attractive destination for both residents and visitors which reflects Sidmouth’s coastal heritage by retaining sea-based activities like sailing and fishing.
A Port Royal Scoping Study, being run on behalf of Sidmouth Town Council and EDDC, is also looking into possible future development opportunities and constraints on the area.
