Knowle relocation project: planting lots of trees in mitigation for felling existing trees

The blurb from the developers for their promised 'retirement village' at Knowle conveys leafy vistas:

However, in order to build the above, now undergoing an appeal process

... several mature trees will have to be felled.

As an observer notes:
They have lodged an appeal and part of that is to claim they are doing a lot for the environment by planting lots of trees but this is only in mitigation for felling existing trees. 

From studying the appeal documents, it appears that the developers would like to fell a line of Monterey Pines beside the car park:

- which also includes a close-up of the magnificent Magnolia granddiflora growing right beside the existing building 
- and this will disappear when the main building is demolished:
