Neighbourhood Plan > interim report on Port Royal to be presented to councils 19th July

The Neighbourhood Plan steering group has been looking at the Eastern end of town:
Futures Forum: Neighbourhood Plan: "Sidmouth’s eastern end is run down and needs to be regenerated, but any development in the town needs to be sensitive and appropriate to the environment."

The final survey of over 1800 households will have the responses on Port Royal extracted and put into a report this week, to forward onto the consultants who are creating the Scoping Study:

The last questionnaires which will help shape the neighbourhood plan have been collected

In total 1,801 surveys were returned as part of the fourth round of successive questionnaires sent out in the past 15 months. Neighbourhood Plan chairman Deirdre Hounsom said the response rate was around 24 per cent which was good in comparison.
Mrs Hounsom said they had been analysing the results as they had been going along and were also now preparing an interim report on the Port Royal questions which will be given to Sidmouth Town Council and East Devon District Council on July 19.
She added they then planned to finish the rest of the analysis and publish a report by the end of August.
Mrs Hounsom said they had now started to write their draft neighbourhood plan and to help the process along had scheduled a meeting with Creating Excellence so their final report, along with the housing survey and all the other reports which they had collated, would be included to help support the evidence-based policies within the final plan.
It is hoped the steering group will be in a position to publish their draft plan by the end of October. This will then be followed by a six-week period where people will be able to leave comments about the plan before it is refined and a final submission is made.
Mrs Hounsom said they had received around £46,000 towards the project which matched their projected budget and, as of May 31, they had spent £31,569. And, this left £10,431 to last until the end of the project.
Town councillor Ian McKenzie-Edwards said: “It is very pleasing that we are coming to the end of this process. This is a very excellent response this time. I hope at the end of this consultation, when the plan is finally written, that everybody in Sidmouth feels they have been part of it. It is Sidmouth’s plan and we have tried to emphasise this all the way down the line.”
Mrs Hounsom said she would like to thank all the shops, sports centres and post offices which acted as drop-off points along with all the other members and groups which helped and are still marking the surveys.
