Autumn walk and work at the FOTB Community Nursery > Sunday 22nd October >>> make sloe gin and hawthorn raw cider vinegar >>> discuss setting up a local food project

On Sunday, the Friends of the Byes decamp to Stoney Orchard.

Here with a message from the chair:

Hi all

Next Sunday 22nd 10-1pm - How do you fancy spending a few hours or longer up at the beautiful site where we keep the Community Nursery trees, near the Hare and Hounds pub?

Either to just to spend a few hours looking around, make some sloe gin, cider vinegar or / and help do a little maintenance up at the site where we keep the Community Nursery trees.

I am aiming to do a little strimming, hedge cutting and put weed suppressant fabric around the fruit and nut trees already planted.

It should be a lovely autumnal day weather permitting. Here is a Facebook event from Tess: https://www.facebook.com/events/1753967794907181

“All are welcome to come and spend a few hours or all day at Stoney Orchard. We will walk the site; pick some sloes and haws on our way. Make Sloe Gin (you need to bring the gin!) and Hawthorn Raw cider vinegar. There will be a few jobs you can get involved with. We will have the wood burner going to cook jacket spuds and have a foraged salad. Please bring your family and a plate of something to share.”

Some of us will also be discussing the setting up of a local food project. If you can make it there is parking available there, just have a look at the map attached.

Any questions you can email or call me on 07927 410937

Best wishes
Michael
