And one of their projects is the Boomerang Bag:

Many thanks to Barbara and the ladies from Ottery Valley, Inner Wheel for producing some boomerang bags for Plastic Free Ottery - to be used by our customers again and again!

And here's the idea in full:

We are happy to introduce our first project to tackle plastic pollution in our town - Boomerang Bags

The idea is that the community make bags out of recycled fabric that are available to use in town if you forget your own re-usables. You then either use them again or wash and return.

We are starting small in Otter Produce but we are hoping it will grow and grow.

We hope you like it and can help  If you'd like a template for the bags they should be in the files, They are formatted to be double sided, one bag on each side and 3 instructions per A4. If you are printing off could you print a few extra and donate the copies to Otter Produce or RIO please. That would be greatly appreciated. Not everyone uses Facebook and so the instructions in paper form are very important for them, thank you!

Don't forget to let us know if you have any other ideas that you'd like to initiate that our community can do to help the environment...no matter how small.

Hanna West - Hello ! We are happy to introduce our first... | Facebook

Here's an interesting example:

I’ve repurposed an umbrella that was being thrown out and thought it would be useful for weighing veg etc. We put a drawstring made from an old shoelace in one of them to make a drawstring bag. Any ideas what we could use that one for?
