Sidford business park >>> "More than 250 parking spaces on a Sidford AONB floodplain? .. No thanks!"

One of the key objections to an industrial estate on the borders of Sidford is the impact it would have on traffic:

The new Planning Application for a Sidford Industrial Estate is a complete no-no on this site.

The two facebook pages,  @Say NO to Sidford Business Park and Sidbury Traffic Action Group (STAG), make it clear that the approach roads seem already to have a  bit of a highways problem…. from both directions .

Children at Sidbury Primary School, which is situated in the heart of the village and which has the A375 as part of its boundary and where it's car park entrance is situated, recently produced road safety posters in a competition which was run across the school. This competition was undertaken in conjunction with Sidbury WI as part of a campaign to get drivers to stick to the 20mph speed limit through the centre of the village.

Across all of the school years great posters were produced and which showed a huge awareness by the children of the dangers of vehicles speeding through the village.

The WI picked the winning posters - one from each school year - and gave the winners a £5 art equipment voucher. There were 6 winning posters (photos of each are below in name order) produced by Isabel, Alice, Darcy, Monty, Beth and Connie.

Well done to each of them for showing terrific creativity and awareness of the issue of vehicle speeding.

The posters judged to be highly commended will be posted later.

See every poster created in this competition at the Sidbury Fair which is being held at the school on the afternoon of Saturday 16 June.

The proposed business park in Sidford which will have 250+ parking spaces is bound to created more traffic and traffic congestion in and around Sidford. It will also mean that more traffic comes via Sidbury to and from the business park.
