Therapeutic garden at Sidmouth Victoria Hospital >>> >>> "a remarkable transformation to an inviting courtyard"

The new therapeutic garden at the hospital has been a real hit: it is a wonderful retreat for both patients and members of the public to relax:

The final project was put together by landscape designer Mike Wale:

It will be interesting to see how the planting performs over the coming months. Below is a set of photos showing before-and-after scenes, with the comment from an observer:

Comparing the attached before and after images reveals a remarkable transformation from a disregarded soulless space to an inviting courtyard animated by Purbeck stone paving and raised islands.
The organically shaped flower beds have released more circulation and seating space considerably improved by replacing the concrete flags with much more attractive stone paving.

The hospital now offers an attractive sanctuary in which folk can relax and enjoy the wonderful natural landscape.
