The DMF is delighted announce the return of our Forum Coordinator Dr. Steven Guilbert Steve joined the DMF in January 2013 having previously worked in academia and undertaken a number of social/environmental research projects including a three-year doctoral study of Devon’s estuarine salmon seine-net fishery.  Starting work for the DMF in Exeter, Steve remarked, represented a personal return to the county of his birth and a professional return to the marine and coastal sector: both of which he felt passionate about and hoped to be a strong advocate of! A message to our valued Forum members....   "Having spent almost exactly a year away, I cannot tell you how happy I am to be finally returning to the Forum and able to engage again with the challenges and the characters of the marine/maritime sector in this amazing part of the world.  A year is (and seemed) like a long time, and while many things are as before and business as usual (at the time of writing we are no clearer what post-Brexit means for the marine and maritime sectors than when I left), there is, I think, a tangible increased sense of the value of our natural environment and an increased sense of urgency to do something to protect and enhance these irreplaceable assets.  Business as usually is looking less and less like a sensible option.  So much for an easy return to work! D&S IFCA is inviting you to have your say on how, in your view, the use of crab tiles could or should be managed in the D&S IFCA District.  This information gathering exercise is part one of a three phase approach and forms part of a larger plan for D&S IFCA to begin the task of reviewing the management of Hand Working Fishing Activities.
