Recycling plastics in East Devon: meeting in Honiton: report

Following on from
Futures Forum: Recycling plastics in East Devon: meeting in Honiton: Thursday 19th September
here is a report from Sustainable Crediton:

Plastic recycling interest grows

24 September 2013

An enthusiastic group of 17 people from Transition Town Honiton, Sustainable Ottery, Transition Wellington, two East Devon Councillors and a rep from the packaging industry gathered for a meeting in Honiton to hear how Crediton has been recycling mixed plastics for the last two years.

Anne Tucker from the Waste Action Group gave details on the voluntary collections at which we have collected over 6.6 tonnes of plastic to date. This equates to around 450 dumpy bags.

Many questions around the logistics, costs, and types of plastic were raised - not all of which had an answer, but it is hoped that the project in Honiton and possibly Wellington could soon be a reality.  We wish them success for the project.
