Pennington Point and Port Royal... on Streetlife

There have been some interesting points made on Streetlife, the social network for local communities. Have a look at these postings from over the last few days - and click further for fresh comment being added:

New Landmark.

I see that Pennington Cove is taking shape nicely in these storms. Those tree roots and shrubs just above the landfall of Alma Bridge will be gone soon.

Port Royal

With the devastation of lifted tarmac and rocks around the turning point …….I wonder if they will consider the redevelopment of this area?  Even a boat was badly damaged yesterday.
It floods, the sea comes over and large boulders (yesterday).  It is on a flood plain already.
I noted that one bench had been ‘tossed’ over the road to the pavement, a window damaged at Trinity Court too.  The Drill Hall which needs money spending on it does appear to being left to rot at the moment……..another Fortfield?  Too far gone to save?
Building on flood plains?  I hope the powers take note this time.

Much of the comment has spilled over into what it means to live in Sidmouth:

Gods Waiting Room/Old Peoples Dog Town.

Interesting letter from a J Tucker on the Opinion page of today's Herald. The writer seems well informed and very aware of what goes on hereabouts so I would imagine they would have heard of Sidmouth being called Gods Waiting Room?
