Those Exmouth beach huts not fit for purpose | East Devon WatchIt does indeed feel as if the District Council is running rough-shod over local popular sentiment, rather than following the true-blue Tory notions of localism:
Futures Forum: LOCALISM restated >>> "Power should be decentralised down to the lowest appropriate level - to councils, to community groups and to individual taxpayers"
Meanwhile, the whole idea of 'fit for purpose' is very much open to interpretation:
Futures Forum: Knowle relocation project: "If Knowle is not fit for purpose, do they really think that Exmouth Town Hall is?"
It is clear that what the populace considers 'assets' which enhance the character of their town are often considered as 'assets' whose value can only be 'realised' by selling them:
Futures Forum: Knowle relocation project: and the 'managed neglect' of valuable assets
Futures Forum: Knowle relocation project: "We’re digging into the opportunities to release assets and invest in assets to increase revenue streams."
