Meeting to consider health proposals for East Devon...... 7pm Wednesday 14th January........................................ making informed choices >>> East Devon's Health Profile

The District Council, at a meeting open to the public, will be discussing the proposals for hospital provision:

Councillors seem to be very well-informed:

The most recent 'Health Profile' for East Devon shows the areas of most concern:
> Alcohol-specific hospital stays (under 18)
> Hospital stays for self-harm

These would surely indicate the need for local provision of hospital services
- especially as these have increased since 2011:

Of course, compared to much of the country, Devon and East Devon are relatively healthy:

However, the increasing incidence of alcohol and self-harm issues indicates the need for support in the community - rather than at a distant, centralised and impersonal facility...
