'A Plastic Ocean' > free documentary showing in Lyme Regis > Tuesday 10th October

Today's front page of the Mail shows royal approval of the paper's campaign on plastic bottles:
Plastic's on the menu, says Charles: Prince warns that every piece of sea-caught fish that you eat contains rubbish dumped in the oceans - Daily Mail Online

It's a campaign that's gathering more supporters and more momentum:

A film has been put together to show the effects of plastic on our oceans:

And in Lyme Regis next week, they're showing the film:

October meeting:  Next Tuesday 10th:   ‘A Plastic Ocean’

We are pleased to be screening – ‘A Plastic Ocean’ a stunning and memorable film about plastics polluting our oceans, particular poignant as we live near Lyme Bay.  Here is the link to a preview.

‘A Plastic Ocean’ is an adventure documentary shot on more than 20 locations over the past 4 years. Explorers Craig Leeson and Tanya Streeter and a team of international scientists reveal the causes and consequences of plastic pollution and share solutions.
Our meeting will be at the Baptist Church Hall.   7.15 for a prompt 7.30 start.  Refreshments available.

We are pleased to have been able to obtain the licence for this important film.  Entry is free but we hope that donations collected on the night will help cover our costs.  Please spread the word among friends, family and neighbours.

Plus another event next month:

Plastic Free Coastlines – Surfers against Sewage

SAS are this year campaigning for plastic free coastlines,  focusing even more energy on preventing plastics from getting into the ocean in the first place. “This will be done through a new SAS project called Plastic Free Coastlines; a campaign and grassroots movement to engage and connect individuals, communities and businesses in the collective effort to reduce the flow of single use plastics into the marine environment. Plastic Free Coastlines is a positive vision that our whole community can share and work towards together.”

Grenville Barr will be talking about this campaign and the Re-Fill scheme at the November meeting.
