Compostables as alternatives to single-use plastics > talk in Lyme Regis > Tuesday 9th October

We need to do something about plastic:
Futures Forum: Drowning in Plastic @ BBC One > "This documentary is a must-watch, because it’s only if we raise awareness, tell our friends and spread the message that humanity will really have a chance at saving our oceans."

And something we can do is ask manufacturers to come up with a better product:
Futures Forum: Turning the Tide on Plastic > "It's an eco-nightmare and a tired, old technology: surely it’s not beyond the wit of science to give us a hi-tech green alternative."

Which is what they're looking at in Lyme tomorrow night:

NEXT WEEK’S MEETING – Tuesday, October 9th
Compostables:  Are they the answer?
Next Tuesday, 9th October,  Blue Room, Royal Lion Hotel, Broad Street, Lyme Regis

7.15 for 7.30pmMark Foxhall will talk about compostables as alternatives to single-use plastics. While we strive to find ways around our plastic addiction, biodegradables may seem an obvious choice. But on closer investigation, they too may have a negative impact on our environment.   Mark will give a presentation to share his knowledge of the subject and lead a discussion.  All are welcome.
