Sid Valley Neighbourhood Plan: new dedicated website

The neighbourhood plan for the Sid Valley is taking on lots of issues:
Futures Forum: Maintaining a balanced community in Sidmouth
Futures Forum: Neighbourhood Plan: "Sidmouth’s eastern end is run down and needs to be regenerated, but any development in the town needs to be sensitive and appropriate to the environment."

It has a new website:

Which gives very useful information on the project so far:

The Sid Valley Neighbourhood Plan is currently in development.

Our area includes Sidbury, Salcombe Regis, Sidford and Sidmouth.
The Sid Valley Steering Group is made up of a group of 9 volunteers from our community including 3 Sidmouth Town Councillors, we are also supported by an administrator.
The Steering Group are working on behalf of the community supported by Sidmouth Town Council who are the responsible authority for our plan.  Sidmouth Town Council are supporting the plan process financially along with a grant from central government and a further grant from East Devon District Council to ensure we are able to involve the community through many different consultations which are needed to develop the plan.
Through our neighbourhood plan we are “Shaping our Future Together” and we hope that you will join us to tell others, have your say in our community consultations and collectively make a positive difference over the next 15 to 20 years; “Making the Sid Valley an even better place to live and visit.”
Once the Sid Valley Neighbourhood Plan is ready as a draft document, it will be consulted upon  and changed in the light of the comments received. It will be submitted then to  East Devon District Council who will consult again on the submitted version, after which it will then go to an independent examiner who if he/she is satisfied it meets the statutory requirements it will then go to a referendum – a simple Yes vote will mean that our plan is officially ‘made’.  At this point it becomes a part of the statutory planning process – so gives the local community real influence.
This is a first for the Sid Valley – and we are excited to see how the community voice is already singing loudly to protect and promote what is valued.  It is heartening to see to that collectively we are working through the challenges to both balance the needs of our whole community and to meet the need to prosper and thrive.
The Sid Valley Neighbourhood Plan website aims to keep you informed, allows you to read as much or as little as you want to and keeps everyone up to date with our latest developments.

Neighbourhood Plan steering group chairman Dee Hounsom said it should be dropped off at the same locations as last time by Friday, June 30, and thanked all the shops, post offices, churches and leisure centres for their continued support.
An electronic version of the questionnaire will also be available on the website,
