The Glass-House

The Glass-House is an independent national charity supporting and promoting public participation and leadership in the design of the built environment. How can we unlock potential in people and places?

Place Potential, The Glass-House Debate Series 2013/14 set out to explore how we can unlock the potential of people and place through collaboration. We explored this question through four key themes – health and wellbeing, the role of young people in place, creative reuse and housing – with audiences across the UK.

Over 250 people attended debates in four UK cities – Edinburgh, Newcastle, Bristol and London – while contributions on our blog and via social media added many more voices and views.
  • Can we improve health through placemaking?
  • Can young people be placemakers?
  • Should we build less and reuse more?
  • Can housing be a catalyst for great places?

We’ve gathered the reflections and voices on these questions in a new publication – Reflections on The Glass-House Debate Series 2013/14.

These pages hold no clear solutions, only provocations, but we hope they will make you think more or differently about Place Potential and the power of collaborative placemaking. Use the Issuu viewer below to read the publication or download it here.
