Open Day at Fresh and Green: Sunday July 13th

It's that time of year again:

Fresh and Green

Open Day July 13th 2014

Our annual open day this year will be held on Sunday July the 13th from 12 o'clock and everyone is invited.

We will be celebrating 11 Years of
Fresh and Green!

It’s a chance for us to show you where we are and what we do and for you to see where your vegetables are grown and to meet some of the people who are growing them for you.  You will also get to meet our chicken flock, ducks and pigs, inspect the vegetables as they grow and admire our huge piles of lovely compost that we use to keep everything growing healthily without the use of artificial feeds and weed killers.  You will also get some idea of the scale of the weeding we carry out on our customers behalf!

Farm walk / Tour with Ruth at 2.30p.m. (ish)

As usual at these days there will be mountains of cake to eat and rivers of tea flowing and also our annual baking competition, this year there are three classes as follows:
  1. Any type of cake that has a vegetable as one of its ingredients.
  2. A plate of savory scones with any type of vegetable or herb as one of its ingredients.
  3.  Savoury Quiche / Tart Flan etc containing vegetables and or herbs
The judging will be carried out at 3 pm by two distinguished, and expert, members of the Fresh and Green team and there will be prizes, so get your bakers hat on and see what you can come up with.
Competition cakes scones and quiches will then be available to purchase in aid of 'Practical Action' , who fund small scale sustainable solutions to the challenges faced by the poorest folk in the developing world.
So everyone will be a winner in the end

Looking forward to seeing you there
Ruth and the team
