A land conference: Exeter: Saturday 21st March >>>>> "How can we grow a proper relationship between people and place?"

Last year, Transition Exeter invited the Henry George Society to explore the notion of how we might deal more effectively with the valuable asset of land:
Futures Forum: Economics @ Transition Exeter: A land value tax

Last month saw them return to the subject:
Futures Forum: Why is housing so expensive? ... and what could Land Value Taxation contribute? Meeting in Exeter: Wednesday 25th February

On Saturday, an all-day conference in Totnes looks at this, again with the Georgist Society
- and within the wider understanding of what 'land' actually means:

A LAND CONFERENCE:
How can we grow a proper relationship
between people and place?
21st March 2015 9.30 to 17.00 (coffee from 9.00)

Have you ever wondered who the land should really belong to? Do you think we need new ways of managing spaces and land that can benefit us all? Are you someone with ideas that could change the way we view ourselves in relation to the places we inhabit?

This is an opportunity for people in Devon to start finding answers to the questions that arise when we ask what our proper relationship with the land should be. It aims to re-invigorate the conversation about land, place and ownership, and inspire us to get involved in our communities to address the most fundamental relationship of all: that with the earth beneath our feet.

Speakers will include:
Simon Fairlie: Radical approaches to accessing land
Jyoti Fernandez: Access to land - an international perspective
Jonty Williams : Economics for taking care of the Earth
Julian Pratt:  Stewardship- an alternative to owning the Earth
Inez Aponte: Meeting Earth needs & meeting human needs

Over the course of the day there will be plenty of opportunity to make new connections and find common ground. Through stories, creative conversations and practical engagement with the topics that arise we aim to arrive at ideas and solutions that can move us towards our collective vision.
Luscious local choir Glorious Chorus will regale us with sweet harmonies at the closing of the day.
