Friday, December 20, 2013
A NEW community energy company for the Sid Valley has made a Christ5mas offrer to resident worried aouih their hills.
SidEnergy's expert team will, free of any charges or commitments, help the first 20 respondents to negotiate lower pricers with their existing energy supplier or switch to another who can offer a better deal.
They particularly want to hear from people who believe they are in fuel poverty or from friends, neighbours or relatives who are concerned about someone they know.
SidEnergy has also announced it has opened discussions with a West Country-based independent energy supplier who can offer lower prices than any of the 'big six' firms. Group chairman Duncan Hasell said residents could save up to £200 a year as a result. More on the arrangement will be revealed in the new year and discussions are ongoing.

From SidEnergy's own website:
SidEnergy aims to recruit at least a 1,000 members to the energy purchasing club by the end of 2014. Energy purchasing is the bulk purchase of gas and electricity from a chosen supplier. A recent DECC report outlined that the average annual saving per household from this is £131.
SidEnergy has identified a £15 million drain of resources from the Sid Valley in the form of energy use.
As energy bills continue to rise, this £15 million is only set to increase. So what can we do to protect ourselves against further increases?
SidEnergy has been created to empower the residents of our local area to take more control of their energy use.
