"Where we live now: New Town, Home Town"

"A home of your own in Milton Keynes"

The Thatcher revolution took off following the general election of 1979.

But the promise of the new town and the promise of 'a home of your own' were touted well before.

Here is a piece of archive from the BBC - from 1979 - which looks at these ideas from the original Garden City to the 'envy of Europe' in the shape of Milton Keynes:
