Earlier today we had a children's storytelling and craft morning themed around the sea at the Library:

And tomorrow will be an all-day affair down by the sea:
Interactive Science Trail by the Sea
Various activities and talks by the sea and about the sea for the whole family.

Join EDDC Countryside Wardens, Sidmouth in Bloom, Sidmouth Arboretum, Sidmouth Lifeboat, Sidmouth Museum in the Arches and others on an interactive science trail along the sea shore. Investigate rock pools, find out what plants grow along the shore, have a taste of seaweed, and more. To download the programme for the day, clickhere.
Chit Rock Pools : EDDC Rangers - Rock Pooling: Explore the rock pools while the tide is low.
The Arches: Sidmouth Museum - Come and see some of the fossil collection. Bring your own fossils and artefacts for identification.
The Esplanade: Stone Balancing - defy gravity and create the biggest stone towers.
Lifeboat Station: See the new tractor. Discuss the tides.
The Ham Marquee and Bagwells Yard: Sidmouth in Bloom - Have a taste of seaweed! Sidmouth Arboretum - Find out about trees, Sid Vale Association - Meet one of our Sponsors and discuss their activities and Sidmouth Sea Fest - The Drill Hall and Sidmouth Sweaters.

The Sidmouth and East Beach Management Plan
Alan Frampton Coastal Scientist, Project Manager CH2M
Alan has over 14 years’ experience of coastal projects, undertaking a range of tasks including coastal process assessment, numerical modelling studies, economic appraisals, strategic coastal flood and erosion risk management planning, beach and sand dune management planning and coastal change adaptation/resilience planning. Alan has been responsible for developing more than 15 beach (and sand dune) management plans (BMPs) to the CIRIA Beach Management Manual second edition best practice guidance, to which he was also a contributing author, since that guidance was published in 2010.
