Futures Forum: The 'regeneration' of Exmouth seafront
It seems that these plans have been removed from the draft Local Plan:
Futures Forum: Regenerating Exmouth removed from draft Local Plan
This is the comment from Transition Town Exmouth in their latest newsletter out today:
Exmouth Development Consultations
Transition Exmouth's sustainable Exmouth project is now active on many fronts.
Alas we missed the, very brief, opportunity to respond to the online Plumb Park consultation but we are on the case of these others:
-
Andromeda Capital Investment (Grenadier) – Watersports Centre
-
Moirai Capital Investments – Queens Drive remainder
- Kilo Properties/Marks & Spencers - Bus garage site.
One piece of news that I can pass on is that all the specific sites along the waterfront as well as the London Inn site in the town Centre that were identified in earlier drafts have now been deleted from the latest draft of the Local Plan. This is for a variety of reasons. For London Inn we don't know. Queens Drive already has outline permission. The rugby field supermarket cannot now happen because the town is under-resourced with sports fields.
In any case, as reported by the Exmouth Journal, none of the waterside proposals had an adequate environmental assessment as called for under European Law.
The Planning application for the road diversion & car park at Queens Drive has however gone in so I urge you all to look at the details at the Town Hall or on the EDDC Website and contribute your comments.
We are told that the Exmouth Masterplan will be revised and its proposals will then apparently be automatically part of the (hopefully) approved Local Plan.
Sounds like jiggery-pokery and the situation that EDDC have got themselves in is a great chance to assert ourselves in the Neighbourhood Plan. Are any of you readers already involved with the NP?
