Young people’s neighbourhood plan survey ready to launch

Young people will have the chance to make their views count with participation in a major survey to shape the future of the Sid Valley.
The launch of the neighbourhood plan youth questionnaires this week will be the first taste of democracy in action for children and teenagers, who will be asked to influence developments in their community.
Students from Sidmouth College, Sidmouth Primary School, Sidbury Primary School and St John’s School will be quizzed on their favourite activities and places, what is important to them and what is lacking in their home town.
Those of secondary school age will have opportunity to give their views on the future of Port Royal.
The Sid Valley Neighbourhood Plan steering group said: “We felt it was absolutely essential to give the children and young people of the Sid Valley their say too.”
Once adopted, the neighbourhood plan will form a statutory document to influence planning decisions in Sidmouth, Sidford, Sidbury and Salcombe Regis for the next 20 years and beyond.
A second residents’ survey will be launched in the spring of 2017. To find out more about the neighbourhood plan, visit: www.sidmouth.gov.uk/index.php/neighbourhood-plan
