Greening car parks in Sidmouth

In the summer of 2012, the Sidmouth Arboretum floated the idea of planting trees in the car parks at the Ham - which are the most frequently-used in town:

Futures Forum: Plans for Port Royal: Arboretum

Sidmouth Town Council would now like to take up the idea - as discussed at a recent meeting:

15: Addition of Trees at the flower beds, Ham car parks

Members considered the idea approved at Council for development. Members were reminded that the flower beds and carp park were the property of East Devon District Council and that they would need to give permission for any works. The sea air, small size of the beds and use by Sidmouth in Bloom would need to be taken into account before anything could be done.

RESOLVED: that Councillor Dyson initially discuss the idea with Sidmouth Arboretum to further develop the proposal.
