Last month, there was a clear call to help those living on or below the poverty line:

As it's not getting any better - even in the 'affluent' Sid Valley:

Happy New Year to you all

I want to start by saying thank you to everyone who supported the food bank during 2018 and my 1st year coordinating the service, its been a busy very time for me and The Sid Valley Foodbank, as you are all aware our client base has certainly increased during the last 12 months, and the ability to provide this service is totally reliant on the goodwill of residents of the Sid Valley, the wonderful people of the valley never cease to amaze me with their kindness whether it be time, donations of food or financial support , every gesture helps keep the service going.

I can say that with the start of the New Year demands on our service has continued to be high and our essential stock supplies are in low, please see the our extensive shopping list that cover the basic needs of not just feeding a family but ensuring that all physical needs are met, hence the request for household items.

In response to several enquiries all our clients are referred via agencies and for an initial period of 3 weeks, unfortunately due to varying circumstances many with the introduction of new benefit systems and seasonal working clients need extend weeks support, at the Sidvalley food bank we want to ensure that all those needing our help and support are treated with dignity, respect and non judgemental to hopefully empower clients to get though an tough period in their lives, in fact previous clients when they no longer need our support have subsequently returned the support they received by volunteering, financial and produce, so humbling.
