The announcement presumably means that Sidmouth will soon boast the District’s largest retirement development for what is known in the national press as the over-sixties ‘smart set’.

Ironically, the site at Knowle has long been the Sid Valley’s largest provider of office jobs for working-age people, and moreover, in a privileged parkland setting.

Apparently the newbuild EDDC HQ, requiring a loan, is already underway at a Honiton Business Park.

The Inspector’s decision and report can be read here:

APPEAL DECISION 3177340

PegasusLife lodged an appeal following the scheme’s refusal in December 2016, which was held over five days last year.

An application to create a 113-home retirement community at East Devon District Council’s current HQ has been allowed on appeal by the Planning Inspector.

PegasusLife lodged an appeal following the scheme’s refusal in December 2016.

A public inquiry was held over five days in November 2017.

The new development will be classed C2, which means Sidmouth will miss out on thousands of pounds’ worth of contributions towards affordable housing.
