France is installing solar panels on 1000km of roads
Once installed, the panels will produce enough electricity for five million people! The specially designed Wattway panels can withstand heavy traffic rolling over them and can be fixed right onto the tarmac. It should all be up and running in the next five years.

Solar power: now available at night.
The new solar thermal plant opened in Ouarzazate, Morocco, uses the sun's light to melt a giant vat of salt. When the sun goes down, there's still enough heat in the salt to power the town for eight hours over night.

Bikes are about to outnumber cars in London's rush hour
Times are changing in the capital. From 2000 to 2014 the number of cars hitting the road during rush hour halved, while bikes trebled. The trend is set to continue, especially with new protected bike lanes popping up all over the city.

UK renewables are generating more power than ever
Scotland hit their 2015 target a year early - with half their electricity coming from renewables in 2014. And it gets better: this January, 48% of their electricity came from wind power alone. In the UK as a whole, clean electricity made up 18% of power in 2015, which is 31% more than 2014!

Madrid is banning cars and covering itself in trees to fight climate change
Climate change is raising temperatures in Madrid. So the city is turning disused roads and plazas into parks, and covering buildings in greenery. Some green roof pilots brought temperatures down by four degrees fahrenheit!
