Cycling: latest plans presented at Sidmouth Town Council

There are two proposals in the pipeline for cycling in and around Sidmouth:
Futures Forum: Cycling: "The first part of the Sidmouth to Feniton route"
Futures Forum: Cycling: Sustrans publishes Sidmouth to Feniton study: further press reports

Both of these were reported on at last night's monthly Town Council meeting.
From the agenda:

11: Sidmouth Cycle Route extension to Woolbrook

Andrew Ardley, Transportation Manager (Policy) for DCC, and Mike Baker, Principal Engineer, Jacobs will attend the meeting to present proposals for an extension of the Sidmouth cycle route to Woolbrook. Andrew will be able to deal with any policy/funding/procedural issues arising and Mike (scheme designer with the partner consultant engineer Jacobs) will be able to help with any detailed design/construction questions.

Attached to the agenda is a diagrammatic plan showing the proposals along with a brief description of the project (both originally prepared for the application to EDDC for S106 funding). The detailed design is still being finalised, and the intention is to submit the scheme for approval to the next meeting of the East Devon HATOC on 20 June.

12: Update on Sidmouth to Feniton Cycle-Walking Route Concept

To receive a presentation and update from Paul Hawkins, Sustrans Devon & Torbay Area Manager, following production of a feasibility study looking into the concept of creating a public path linking Sidmouth to Feniton in East Devon.

This study is now available online using the link below. The report is still titled ‘Draft’ in recognition of the fact that such a study will inevitably have errors, and should be added to over time as more and new knowledge is gained. The route concept would take in Ottery St. Mary, Tipton St. John and Bowd. An extract of the report is attached for Members information: Page 7, Section 2, Background Information.
