A SUCCESFUL celebration of Sidmouth’s coastal location and heritage on Monday – the town’s first Sea Fest - attracted more than 1,000 people.
Matt Booth and Louise Cole organisers of the first Sidmouth sea fest.
Organisers of the fun at the Ham now hope to make it an annual event.
Matt booth said: “It was a fantastic day and couldn’t have gone any better. I’m relieved, delighted, excited and optimistic – looking forward to building on it.”
A fish kitchen proved a smash-hit along with demonstrations from a raft of local organisations and an exhibition in the Drill Hall about the town’s fishing history.
Eighteen people took part in an Easter ‘fish hunt’ involving town businesses, 90 people enjoyed the ‘fish stocks’, 120 faces were painted and more than 200 fish baps were dished out.
SIDMOUTH: Sidmouth Sea Fest success
22nd April 2014
IN THE STOCKS - Crowds flocked to the Ham on Easter Monday for the first Sidmouth Sea Fest – a celebration of all things coastal, with stalls, entertainments and activities on show throughout the day.
Festival organiser Matt Booth and volunteer Nick Hall were on hand with buckets and sponges to give a drenching to Guy Bennett, a crew member with Sidmouth Lifeboat.
There were also a range of fishing-related attractions, with craft stalls and exhibitions displaying Sidmouth’s coastal heritage, and a musical performance from the Sid Vale choir.
