Futures Forum: Regenerating Exmouth seafront: a posh restaurant and a watersports centre
Process has been key to a very fraught project:
Futures Forum: Regenerating Exmouth seafront: "control of the process will remain with the Exmouth Regeneration Board "
Transition Exmouth has been pushing for a more eco-minded project - and for a little more vision:

Here's their JUNE newsletter:
Sustainable Exmouth
Grenadier’s Watersports application looks set to be approved by
EDDC on 5th June. We objected on the grounds of unproven claims of
environmental sustainability.
The Phase 3 Visioning exercise is underway with Wayne Hemingway in
charge. Andy Lock represented us at a meeting arranged as a get-to-know-you
event with several members of the Hemngway family business. Hemingway says that
he is collecting evidence and setting up an on-line portal for the collection of
ideas on the development.
Your UG has given Andy the go-ahead to represent us as he feels
most appropriate, in other words, Andy is not mandated to present any particular
point of view. Andy has been closely involved for many years in lobbying for the
sustainable development of Exmouth. The current process is a vital opportunity
to persuade those most closely involved in the direction of our own vision and I
am quite prepared to allow him free reign in this.

And from JULY:
Sustainable Exmouth
So
Grenadier have got their planning permission for the Watersports Centre;
reluctantly we objected on the grounds of unproven claims of environmental
sustainability but I’m not aware anyone took any notice. The vote was 8 for, 5
against with Mark Williamson abstaining because he is a director of the public
interest company that will eventually run the facility. You may hear the
Committee discussion starting at about the 40 minutes mark in:

Wayne Hemingway’s Phase
3 Visioning exercise is underway. Andy Lock represented us at a meeting arranged
as an intimate get-to-know-you event with several members of the Hemingway
family business.
The
follow up brainstorming meeting on 21st June was at a time when Andy
could not attend but we’re thankful to Anne Marie Culhance for stepping in. This
second meeting was attended by a larger number; the attendees split into groups,
with each asked to report back one idea, not already aired, for the theme of the
Development. Anne Marie's table urged the marketing of Exmouth as an Eco-resort
and this concept was echoed by Cllr. Philip Skinner, Chair of the Exmouth
Regeneration Board. The next stage in the process is to be an on-line
consultation. We keenly await that and urge you all to participate.
Your UG gave Andy and
Anne Marie the go-ahead to represent us as they each felt most appropriate, in
other words, they were not mandated to present any particular point of view.
