Conservative Parliamentary candidate for East Devon Sir Hugo Swire has defended his decision not to attend all-party hustings events during the General Election campaign.

Prospective parliamentary candidates in East Devon have blasted Hugo Swire for a 'disgusting' decision to not take part in any hustings event in the run up to the General Election. They claim it can only be because he is worried about having to debate with them.
All seven of the candidates for the East Devon constituency have been invited to attend a hustings event held at the Holy Trinity Church in Exmouth at 7.30pm on May 30.
But Hugo Swire, the Conservative candidate who has been East Devon's MP since 2001, has announced that he will not be taking part in any all-party constituency hustings events.

There will nevertheless be at least two hustings

Tuesday 30 May, 7.30pm – Exmouth – Holy Trinity Church
