Meanwhile next door to the Sid Valley, Budleigh Salterton has now put together its draft NP:
Production of the Budleigh Salterton Plan only began in August 2015 – thanks to the hard work and dedication of a group of local volunteers - making it one of the quicker plans to be produced in the district. Budleigh Salterton is the first of the East Devon towns to submit a Neighbourhood Plan, and is the sixth overall Neighbourhood Plan to be submitted in East Devon. It covers a variety of topics including housing, heritage, business and protecting the local environment.
Councillor Mark Williamson, East Devon District Council’s lead councillor for Neighbourhood Planning, said:
21 February 2017 - Budleigh Salterton Town Council submits Neighbourhood Plan to East Devon - East DevonThose volunteers who have worked on the Budleigh Salterton Neighbourhood Plan deserve double recognition. They are the first town in East Devon to bring a Neighbourhood Plan to submission stage, and they have done so in just two years. The plan is very well designed and will be easy to use in making important decisions about the future of this historic and much-loved town. It shows that even in a sizeable town it is possible for residents to have a voice in the planning process.
