Affordable housing in Sidmouth: DCH and EDDC

The housing association DCH, formerly known as

are nearing completion on a project  in Sidmouth in partnership with the District Council.

There has been a generally-enthusiastic welcome of new affordable housing going up now in
Mill St/Holmdale in Sidmouth:

10/0131/MFUL | Redevelopment of site to provide 12 no. apartments | Holmdale 14 Mill Street Sidmouth EX10 8DW

The District Council has been very supportive:

Head of Housing and Social Inclusion
We welcome the opportunity to provide much needed affordable homes in Sidmouth.
We have agreed an option with Devon and Cornwall Housing Association that they
proceed on the basis that the existing building and adjoining car park be transferred to
their ownership once all matters have been approved. In accordance with the Housing
Market Assessment 2007 (HMA) we would normally
expect to see a tenure split 70/30% in favour of social rented the remaining as shared
ownership. However, in this instance we have agreed that all 12 apartments be available
in perpetuity for social rented affordable homes.
All affordable housing will be constructed in accordance with the Homes and Community
Agency build and design standards. All nominations will be made via East Devon District
Council.

The project managers Taylor Lewis have an excellent track record:

With a long track record of acting for Registered Social Landlords, Taylor Lewis have a wealth of knowledge of the standards required for the successful delivery of social housing. Over the 20 years of experience in this sector we have acted for 18 RSLs in the area and we are proud to be on several framework agreements.

Who we are

DCH maintains and manages over 20,000 great places to live - and we’re investing in more all the time.
Wherever we work we look to build communities as well as houses.
We are a charitable organisation, but we do run a strong, commercially-minded business. We re-invest as much as we can back into new homes and thriving communities.
