Plans for Port Royal and the Eastern Town >>> apartments over car parks

There have been some pretty cool ideas for what to build at the Eastern End of town.

Here's one such idea from Sidmouth's MP: 
- housing around and over the car parking:

Which pretty much replicates what this part of town always looked like:
- a warren of cottages and businesses and open spaces:

The only problem is that the area faces more flooding than before:

One suggestion has been to place apartments over car parks:
- in particular, over part of the Ham car park behind the Sailing Club:

In other words, any housing would have to be 'over car parking' - if not on stilts.

The consultants' proposals for Port Royal do indeed fulfill these requirements: 
- but the positioning of 30 flats on top of the lifeboat station and sailing club seems rather overkill:
